Compote is a French word for “mixture.” It involves cooking fruit in water, with a sweetener added (in our case honey). - Pam
Ingredients
3 medium peaches 1 tablespoon (20 g) honey ½ cup (120 mL) water sprinkling of cinnamon and clove powder, as desired
Instructions
1. Peel and cut peaches into small 1-inch pieces
2. Remove seed pits
3. Set a small saucepan on the stovetop over medium heat, and add in the peaches, honey, and water (as well as spices if desired)
4. Bring to a boil
5. Lower and simmer until peaches are softened and blended into compote (press peaches down while cooking to soften them further)
6. Allow the compote to cool and eat as is, or if you want a smoother consistency, pulverize it in a blender
Yield
1½-2 cups (360-480 mL)
